Samhain Dumb Supper

The History of Dumb Supper

Feast of the Dead is an old Samhain tradition. In this case dumb refers to not speaking, being silent. During this time, the veil between worlds is thin. The Dumb Supper is a meal that is eaten in total silence, with a guest of honour seat for the dearly departed, ancestors and those who have passed beyond into the other-realms.

About the Event

There will be potluck style food-stuffs for the Feast, a Book of the Dead to enter names for the tolling of the bell, and tealights to leave for remembrance.  Attendees encouraged to bring a small picture or item to place at the Guest of Honor seat (this is a chair that will be left vacant in recognition of those beyond the shroud may join us).

All attendees are encouraged to dress up in their finery. Gray shades such as black, white, silver, grey, and other muted colors are thematically appropriate. Seating will be in descending order according to Title/Rank on through open seats.

Anyone and everyone! This is a limited capacity event; a RSVP is required to ensure adequate seating. All attendees age 11 and younger must be accompanied by a person age 16+.

This one day event is hosted in late October. Date and time are subject to change based on venue availability. Check our calendar for the date!

Samhain Dumb Supper will be held at LOCATION LOLLY WHAT IS IT. Attendee's with physical disabilities should contact us to inquire about seating accommodations.
